Remembrance Day 2020: Ellin speaks to the NCJW Orah branch on Nov. 24, 2020
November 24 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm EST
As the world marks Remembrance Day under COVID-19, author and journalist Ellin Bessner brings her book “Double Threat: Canadian Jews, the Military and WWII” to the National Council of Jewish Women Orah Branch in Toronto. Bessner’s book, published by the University of Toronto Press, tells the story of the 17, 000 Canadians of Jewish faith who served in WWII, helped defeat Hitler, and rescued the survivors of the Holocaust. As the world marks the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII, Bessner will introduce you to some of the Canadians of Jewish faith who were among the liberators. She will also speak about the special role of Canadian jewish women in the war, both on the home front, and in uniform.
Note: If the event is done via Zoom, books can be purchased here, and the author will be happy to sign them, by arrangement.
