On Remembrance Day, November 11, 2017, Ellin speaks to family and friends of the late squadron leader Jack Cahan at Temple Kol Ami in Thornhill, as featured guest at this year’s Jack Cahan Memorial Lecture.

Ellin’s new book “Double Threat: Canadian Jews, the Military, and World War ll” tells the story of the 17,000 Canadian Jews who put on a uniform to fight Nazism and the Axis in World War ll.

Jack Cahan served Canada in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a pilot, instructor and public relations officer. His exemplary service to his country continued throughout his life with involvement in many veterans’ organizations, including stints as National Commander and Toronto Post Commander of the Jewish War Veterans of Canada, President of the Air Crew Association and President of the Air Force Association. He touched hundreds of lives through his presentations at Remembrance Day ceremonies over several decades and his volunteer service was recognized many times, most recently with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.
