An unexpected but welcome gesture of praise by the Conservative MPP for Thornhill, Ontario Gila Martow, for my work to get Canada to acknowledge the contribution of the Jewish community to winning the Second World War. Martow was speaking in Toronto at the Nov. 11, 2019 Jewish War Veterans of Canada Remembrance Day service held Monday at the Lipa Green Building. Martow publicly thanked Ellin for writing “Double Threat: Canadian Jews, the Military and WWII” and also for working with Veterans Affairs Canada to add a web exhibit about the fighting Jews in uniform to the official government Remembrance web page. That page went live in the fall of 2019.
