As world leaders and surviving WWII veterans gather in Normandy on June 6, 2019 for the 75th anniversary, join author and journalist Ellin Bessner and Rabbi Jarrod Grover of Toronto’s Beth Tikvah synagogue for an unforgettable Paris to Dieppe Battlefields Tour for D-Day 75. We will attend the official ceremony on Juno Beach and pay tribute to the contribution of Canada’s Jewish community to defeating Hitler, stopping the war, and rescuing the survivors of the Holocaust.

Under the auspices of Merit Travel, join us from May 30 to June 11, 2019 on a fully-guided tour along the path that the Canadian soldiers took as they landed in France and spent the next eleven months in bitter combat to defeat the Nazis.  Celebrate the Shabbath in one of Paris’ most historic Jewish synagogues and tour Jewish landmarks and sites in the French capital; dedicate a special Torah scroll to Canadian Jewish uniformed men who made the ultimate sacrifice and now lie buried in the cemeteries on Normandy; meet the local Jewish communities in Normandy; see the major battle sites, from a Canadian Jewish perspective.  Other highlights include a D-Day Academy day long tour in vintage vehicles, a stop in Rouen where the Jewish community of France has roots dating back to the 11th century, a tour of the German tunnels and gun placements that were part of the Atlantic Wall, a tour of Pegasus Bridge, and Arromanches and the Mulberry Harbours, and an optional gala dinner near Caen with the Canadian Juno Beach Museum directors and Wounded Warriors. End the tour with a solemn tour of Dieppe, where so many Canadians lost their lives in the doomed August 1942 Dieppe Raid.
